The Stag Gazes into the Pond, Gustave Doré
I’ve seen a lot of pieces by Dore, but he’s done so many of them that I still run across ones I’ve never seen more. This is one that I had never seen before and I’m once again amazed at the amount of detail he puts into all of his pieces.

Totem, by T. Dylan Moore
This was a piece done for a children’s book. The animals are in alphabetical order, which I think is awesome. His painting style is very soft and colourful, at least in this piece, perfect for a children’s book.

Some botanical illustrations from Botany for the Artist, 2010 by Sarah Simblet
Simblet’s book has just about everything you need to know about botanical illustration. While amazing at her botanical art, she also has some great art books about anatomy as well.

From The Katurran Odyssey by Terryl Whitlatch
I really like this artist and her work; she’s amazing with animals and creating new creatures and their anatomy. She actually did a lot of concept art for some of the Star Wars movies as well as other series (such as the one above).

Illustration from The Way We Work, 2008 by David Macaulay
His book is amazing as far as anatomy and physiology illustrations, as well as being very informative and detailed while still being creative.
